About Ajwa
Ajwa (عجوة) is small and roundish. In Malaysia it is also sold under the market name Kurma Nabi. Our product pages call it kurma nabi, or kurma sunnah, because of the hadith in Sahih al-Bukhari 5445: “He who eats seven ‘Ajwa dates every morning, will not be affected by poison or magic on the day he eats them.”
What Ajwa is like
The skin is near-black and finely wrinkled. Bite one and it is soft, with a creamy sweetness. Keep the pack in a closed container somewhere cool and dry. For longer keeping, the fridge keeps the flesh soft.

How the Ajwa grades work
Grades are the importer’s own size sorting, and some pack names carry the size. The 5kg A No.1 carton is labelled Small and the 1kg AAA VIP is labelled Large. The variety is the same in every grade. On the 1kg packs, price goes up with the grade: RM31 for A, RM36 for AA and RM44 for AAA VIP. Every pack with Jumbo in its name, from the 1kg VVIP Jumbo to the XL Super Jumbo 5kg carton, is out of stock right now.
How to enjoy Ajwa
Eat it straight as a snack, or chop it into a dish. Our product pages suggest Ajwa for berbuka puasa and sahur, for a majlis, or as a gift to take with you. It is naturally sweet, so a few at a time is plenty.
